Curriculum - Curriculum Policy

It is the policy of Lisnagelvin Nursery School to:

  1. Make the transition from home to school smooth, relaxed and happy.
  2. Provide an environment which nurtures self confidence, success and positive thinking.
  3. Develop each child at his/her own pace, through challenging, structured, planned and progressive play.
  4. Encourage communication through language development with adults and peer groups.

  1. Promote physical development in a safe and challenging environment both outdoors and indoors.
  2. Inculcate a love of song, dance, music, books and art.
  3. Give each child the opportunity to explore, enjoy and investigate the natural environment.
  4. Practice social skills through group activities.
  5. Develop manipulative skills.
  1. Promote health, hygiene and safety.
  2. Encourage environmental awareness at home, school and in our community.
  3. Establish links with the local community including visits, demonstrations and talks.
  4. Involve parents in their children's school activities for mutual benefit and enjoyment.
  5. Prepare for a smooth transfer to Primary School.
